WWE Backlash

Filed under: Wrestling — eternalknight @ 10:13 am

There is a lot of talk around at the moment that wrestling, especially in the WWE, has become boring and predictable.  So I thought it would b a fun experiment to see if I could predict the outcome of WWE pay-per-views.

And, it just so happens, WWE has one on this weekend:  Backlash.

John Cena vs Triple H vs Edge in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship

To be honest, I thought Cena would lose it Wrestlemania, and I was wrong, but I just don't see him retaining it here.  That leaves Triple H and Edge.  Although I would like Edge to win it, just for a change of pace, I think it will be Triple H that walks away with a victory.

Shelton Benjamin vs Rob Van Dam for both the Intercontinental Championship and the Money in the Bank contract

Interesting match this one.  My initial thought was that it could go either way, but with an ECW pay-per-view coming up, and RVD already saying that his title match would be 'extreme' (thus, building up for the ECW show), I think Rob Van Dam will win.

Mickie James vs Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship

I think the WWE is having fun with the storyline surrounding these two, and I think Mickie James will win.

Vince McMahon & Shane McMahon vs Shawn Michaels & 'God'

Well.  This is one is weird, but interesting. Will 'God' show up?  The easy answer is 'of course he won't', but we are talking about the WWE here.  Still, I think 'God' will not show up, just so Vince McMahon can brag the next night onRaw that he beat 'God.  Vince and Shane to win.

Kane vs Big Show

Not a match I really care about.  With Kane's movie coming out, they will give Kane the win.

Carlito vs Chris Masters

Carlito is becoming more and more popular each week, and will outsmart Masters to win.

Umaga vs Ric Flair

Another throw away match, really.  I expect Umaga to win, though I think it will be because of inteference or something so that it keeps Flair looking strong.

Warbands Round 1

Filed under: Gaming — eternalknight @ 1:23 am

I thought it would be fun to write up a small background story for our Warhammer Warbands games. So, here it is.

In the beginning, the elven race was one, living upon their island paradise called Ulthuan. But as time went by, tensions mounted, and the elven race was split.

The Wood Elves severed all ties with Ulthuan and went to live in the land men called the Old World. There they found a home within the great sentient forest known as Athel Loren.

The Dark Elves made pacts with Daemons and waged war upon their cousins, but were beaten. They, too, left Ulthuan, sailing for the frozen wastes of Naggaroth.

The High Elves continued to live upon Ulthuan, content with their place in life. They wage war upon their Dark cousins, but do not have anything to do with the Wood Elves.

The three elven races have lived this way for millennia. Recently, however, explorers have returned from the jungles of the Southlands with rumours of a fourth elven race. Supposedly, this race is savage, attacking and killing anyone they come across. Reports say they are lightning quick, and have skin so pale it is almost translucent.

The High Elves quickly moved to deny the rumour, although this didn't stop them from sending a small party by ship to investigate. The Wood Elves also sent a band of warriors, for their legends tell of a Lost Kindred – maybe this was them? The Dark Elves, on the other hand, largely ignored the matter, though it is supposed they have some plan in store.

Coincidently, both the High Elves and Wood Elves arrived in the Southlands at the same time. The local inhabitants, a race of red-skinned Lizardmen, noticed this fact and decided that it was much more than a coincedence. The tribal leaders decided to send a small force of skinks, led by a well-respected shaman, to harry these forces and drive them from their land.

In a series of skirmishes, in which even the High Elves and Wood Elves faced each other, much blood was shed and each of the three warbands fought for their survival. The High Elves, badly beaten and shaken by the 'red-skinned devils of the jungles', retreated to their ships to regroup and replan. The Wood Elves, on the other hand, made great inroads into the jungles, frustrating the Lizardmen to no end. No sign of the mystery fourth Elven race has been spotted yet, and so the Wood Elves continue their exploration.

The Lizardmen, having beaten back one force but in turn been beaten back by another, have convened in a council of war to decide what to do.

No doubt all three races have something in store for their opponents.

…and it gets better

Not long after writing the post below, some nobheads decided that they were going to damage my car.  At least I have their names, so hopefully justice will be done.

My Life as a Movie

Filed under: Life, the Universe, and Everything — eternalknight @ 2:41 am

If my life was a movie, then tonight would be titled "Night of the Ferals 2: Return of the Ferals."

In my line of work, I expect to see some… "different"… people.  It sort of comes with the territory.  However, getting them all on the same night is pretty bad.  Getting them all on the same night, two weeks in a row, is worse.  And that is exactly what has happened these last two weeks.

It is hard to describe these people.  But, since starting in this job, I have seen:

  • Transvestities (not so bad, just comes at a shock at 4am);
  • A woman who offered to have sex with me if I gave her a discount on her fuel – mind you, she said this in front of her fiance;
  • A guy who had a go at me, accusing me of being a thief and robbing the poor people of Maffra, all because the fuel prices are so high (he didn't like it when I told him, bluntly, that I had nothing to do with the prices and then I too had to buy petrol);
  • A fellow who tried to steal a hot meat pie buy shoving it down the front of his pants… I decided to let him be uncomfortable for some time before saying anything;
  • Another fellow came in looking to buy condoms – when I told him the price, he went off on a whole diatribe about "how much does a root cost these days?".  When I suggested to him he could either buy the condoms or pay for it for the rest of his life, he meekly handed over the money;
  • The guy who came in complaining, over and over again, that it was cold outside – then bought three or four ice creams and stood outside and ate them;
  • How about the guy who gets shitty at the ATM when his pay hasn't gone in – in one instance, even threatening to smash it?

This is just a few of the many, many "different" customers I get to see.

Warhammer Warbands

Filed under: Gaming — eternalknight @ 1:56 am

Last weekend was the start of our Warhammer Warbands escalation league. There are three of us – myself, Paul, and Phil.

The object of an escalation league is to start with a small (ie, 200-point) army and gradually build it. Our rules say that all models must be painted, so it is a good way of getting a fully painted Warhammer army.

Paul is playing with High Elves, Phil with Lizardmen, and I am feilding Wood Elves. The first game saw me massacre Paul, 238-36. Paul then played against Phil, who ended up with a similar scoreline. It then came down to Phil and I – and I had never beaten Phil in a game of Warhammer. That was about to change, as I scored a victory over him, 190-54, I believe.

We then played a three-way fight, which I again won (yay me!). Even better was the fact that I didn't concede any victory points during the game at all!

So, in three weeks time, my army will have grown to 320 points and we shall all meet on the feild of battle (ie, my kitchen table) again. I expect it to be much more even next time.
